Hi, I’m Ben Simmons.

Therapy doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be real.

I work with people who give a lot—to their work, their relationships, their roles—and who sometimes lose track of themselves in the process. That includes young people trying to figure out who they are, teachers who still care deeply but are exhausted, carers and helpers who’ve spent a lifetime putting others first, and professionals stuck solving problems that never quite stay solved.

What they all have in common? They’re human. They’re trying. And they’re often carrying more than anyone can see.

A Bit About Me

I’m a counsellor, teacher, and lifelong overthinker with a brain wired for intensity, curiosity, and compassion. I’m also neurodivergent, which has shaped the way I see the world—and the way I support others in navigating theirs.

When I first started therapy myself, I approached it like school: read all the books, complete all the worksheets, get an A+. I thought if I understood enough, I’d finally feel okay. But therapy, like life, isn’t something you can master. It’s something you feel your way through—with someone beside you.

That realisation changed everything. And now, it’s the foundation of how I work.

Learn how to hold an emotion and take a small part of it that is manageable - experience it and then return it back, smaller and lighter than before.

How I Work

Therapy with me is human-first, client-led, and rooted in deep curiosity. You don’t need to have it all figured out before you come in. You don’t need to explain yourself perfectly or justify why you feel the way you do.

We start where you are.

Sometimes that means talking. Sometimes it’s creative. Sometimes it’s quiet. Always, it’s real.

I integrate evidence-based models like Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed approaches, mindfulness, and nervous system awareness. But the goal isn’t “fixing” you—it’s understanding what’s happening beneath the surface, with compassion for all the parts of you that are just trying to help.

Who I Support

I work with:

Young people who are navigating identity, school stress, transitions, and big emotions. We create a space where they don’t have to perform, explain, or have the answers—just be real.

Teachers who are burnt out but still love the job. Together, we make sense of the pressure, the politics, the emotional weight—and find their way back to why they started.

Carers and helpers who’ve spent so long tending to others that they no longer recognise their own needs. In this space, their well-being becomes a priority, not an afterthought.

Professionals and teams who are stuck in cycles of problem-solving that don’t seem to go anywhere. I help unpack the interpersonal patterns at play so they can lead, relate, and communicate more effectively.

My Beliefs

I believe all parts of you are trying to help—even the ones you might wish away.
I believe healing happens in relationship, not isolation.
I believe you’re the expert on your life—and I’m here to walk beside you, not ahead of you.
I believe growth isn’t always dramatic—it’s often found in the smallest, most honest moments.
