Services and fees

Investment in understanding and change.

Choosing the right support is importaint. Here’s what sessions look like, what they cost and how you can get started.

You do not need to know exactly what to book.

Starting therapy can already feel like a big decision. Choosing the right appointment should not make it harder.

You can begin with a free 20-minute conversation, or book an initial appointment when you feel ready. We can work out the most suitable next step together.

Start where you feel comfortable

  • Free 20-minute conversation

A chance to meet before deciding

Not sure whether I am the right therapist for you or your young person?

This free conversation gives you an opportunity to briefly explain what is happening, ask questions and get a feel for how I work.

We can meet by phone, online or in person, depending on availability.

There is no pressure or obligation to continue afterwards.

    Free — 20 minutes

  • Initial appointment

More time to understand the whole picture

The first appointment is longer so that we do not have to rush.

We will begin making sense of what has brought you here, what has already been tried, what matters to you and what you hope might become different.

You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation or a perfect goal. We can work that out together.

    $200 — 90 minutes

  • Ongoing individual sessions

Support that can adapt as things change

Ongoing sessions provide space to understand what is happening, develop practical strategies and continue working toward the changes that matter to you.

Most people choose either weekly or fortnightly appointments, but there is no required number of sessions. We will decide together what is useful and review this as we go.

    $156.16 — 60 minutes
    $234.24 — 90 minutes

A 90-minute appointment may be helpful when you want more time for deeper therapeutic work, complex conversations or approaches such as Internal Family Systems therapy.

  • Relationship and family therapy

Time for everyone to be heard

Relationship and family appointments are longer so that each person has time to speak, understand what is happening and participate in finding a way forward.

These sessions may involve couples, parents, young people or other important family members.

    $265 — 90 minutes

Payment, rebates and accessibility

Let us talk if cost is getting in the way

I do not want cost to be the only reason someone cannot access support.

Payment arrangements may be available depending on your circumstances. Please contact me before booking so that we can discuss what may be manageable.

Simmons Psychotherapy does not currently offer Medicare or private health insurance rebates.

In-between Session Phone Support At No Cost

Access to message support, when you need it in a crisis and between sessions, is an option I extend to all my clients.

Current clients may contact me between appointments for brief, non-urgent support at no additional cost.

This may include:

  • clarifying something discussed in a session;

  • sharing a relevant update;

  • asking for help applying a strategy; or

  • arranging additional support when needed.

Between-session messaging is not a crisis or emergency service, and responses may not be immediate. Urgent concerns should be directed to an appropriate crisis or emergency service.

Common Questions

  • How often will I need to attend?

There is no fixed schedule or required number of appointments. Some people attend weekly, others fortnightly or less often. We will decide what is useful together.

  • Are appointments available online?

Yes. Appointments may be available in person, online or by phone, depending on the type of session and current availability.

  • What happens if I am unsure after the first session?

That is okay. The first appointment is an opportunity for both of us to decide whether working together feels helpful.

  • Can I ask a question before booking?

Absolutely. You can book a free conversation or send an enquiry before making a decision.

You do not have to have it all figured out.

You only need somewhere to begin.

We can talk about what is happening, work out what kind of support may help and decide on the next step together.
